THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES OF PSYCOLOGY STUDENTS

The essence and structure of the leadership qualities of psychology students are elaborated in the article. These qualities are characterized as the totality of individual-personal and socialpsychological qualities of a personality that give him/her the possibility to play the part of a leader in the group. Activity, initiativity, amicability, the ability to listen to an interlocutor, resoluteness, readiness for independent fulfilment of tasks, self-confidence, purposefulness, a need for success, creativity, striving for self-realization and self-confirmation, the ability to have an influence on others and readiness for a risk are ascribed to leadership qualities. The age of students is named the sensitive period of the formation of leadership qualities. The ways of the formation and development of the leadership qualities are also studied. It is shown that the most favourable terms for the formation and development of the leadership qualities of students of psycology are created in the conditions of the right organization of educational process, of the use of the methods of projects and plays, of training and of active participation in selfgoverning of students. The effective formation and development of leadership qualities may be realized in educational activity in the process of fulfilment of instructional tasks, in the scientific work through the participation in different scientific societies of students, by means of making reports at scientific and practical conferences, with the aid of training, and through the social work. The development of the leadership qualities is possible on condition that students should be involved in the activity of social significance.
