Abstract

The article highlights the psychological features of the negative impact of handicapism on the life of people with psychophysical disabilities. The article is devoted to the psychological analysis of the installation in the modern society in relation to its disadvantaged members. The basic scientificapproaches to the problem of the negative impact of handicapism on the psychogenesis of a disabled deprived personality are analyzed. It is emphasized that the study of the nature of the xenophobic and handicap attitude of the person to the person should be aimed first of all at reducing and neutralizing the excessive aggressiveness of the relations and the discomfort of cohabitation. We reveal the essential features and content-functional specifics of handicapism as an unfavorable factor for the personal and social development of people with health problems. It is noted that the negative consequences of handicapism are inadequate self-image, ambivalent self-acceptance, a changing and unstable self-image, a misbalanced self-concept, etc. It is stated that handicap can serve as a direct cause of disorders of neurotic nature, first of all increased anxiety and various types of anxiety, frustration and increased
neuro-mental tension, as well as result in passivity of reactions to social interactions, fearfulness, seclusion, unwillingness for contact. Generally, handicapism synthesizes intolerant and antihuman, arrogant and xenophobic, cruel and aggressive attitudes towards disabled people, and often manifests itself as indifference, cynicism and other immoral attitudes towards them. We make strong case for the necessity of complex medical-psychological-pedagogical support, first of all, the involvement of psychorehabilitation technologies using the most modern integrative psychotechnical, psychocorrectional and psychotherapeutic means.
