Abstract

Theoretical analysis and empirical study of the social intelligence of adolescents with disabilities of psychophysical development are carried out in the article. Social intelligence is considered an important process of human life, defines the understanding and cognition of one’s personality and actions of others and activities in general. It is social intelligence that enables a person to predict interpersonal relationships. People with high social intelligence have a much higher level of stress and psychological endurance, so it is easier for them to make independent decisions in any situation without fear of being defeated. The level of social intelligence development influences the effectiveness of various systems and interconnections between people. This issue is especially relevant for children with disabilities. It is important to understand what their social intelligence peculiarities are for more effective adaptation and social engagement in society.

The goal of research: to study the social intelligence of adolescents with disabilities of psychophysical development.

The study was conducted at the Lutsk Training and Rehabilitation Center. The sample consisted of 39 students of 8th, 9th and 11th grades. The Social Intelligence test (J. Guilford) was used in the study.

A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the empirical study results of the social intelligence of adolescents with psychophysical development disabilities showed thatthe index of social intelligence is below average among 77%. A low index of social intelligence is among 3%, an average one among another 3%, and higher than the average among 19%. High levels of intelligence have not been detected among those diagnosed.

Prospects for further research include developing the diagnosis and testing means of correctional programs for the social intelligence development of children with psychophysical development disabilities.
