ANALYSIS OF PSYCHOSEXUAL ATTRACTION INFLUENCE ON PARTNERS SATISFACTION AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF MARRIAGE

Abstract

The article reveals the theoretical substantiation and empirical consideration of the psychosexual attraction features and their influence on partners’ satisfaction at different stages of married life. The content of the above-mentioned issue in the scientific literature is analyzed, the main components of sexual attractiveness of partners are determined; psychosexual attraction of married couples with different marital experience is investigated; several factors that have implications for partners’ sexual attraction are identified. The obtained results showed that satisfaction with marriage depends on several factors of psychosexual attraction, namely: emotional sensitivity of partners relationships, presence of mutual understanding; common views and interests of partners; emotional and visual appeal; sexual attractiveness, and such factors as the intensity and content of communication; functional and role coherence. It is revealed that the more marital experience, the higher are the indicators of individual components of psychosexual attraction, such as sociability, self-confidence, visual attractiveness, overall views. At the same time, sexual attraction, psychological well-being, and sexual satisfaction are reduced. It is proved that psychosexual attraction affects marriage satisfaction and stability. Along with that, the decrease in indicators of both satisfaction with marriage and psychosexual attraction was revealed with the increase of marital experience. The obtained results are of great practical significance and can be successfully used by family relationships expert in the work with married couples and partners individually to provide psychological assistance for the harmonization of marital relationships at different stages of family functioning.
