The article presents the results of theoretical and empirical analysis of the development of structural elements of emotional intelligence in adolescence, because this is a sensitive period of emotional intelligence, where a person learns to manage their own emotions and the emotions of others. Age features of adolescence contribute to the formation of intrapersonal and interpersonal emotional intelligence in the leading activities and social situation of adolescent development, so the question of harmonious unity of emotions and cognitive processes is more relevant than ever at this age. Emotional intelligence is characterized as a set of abilities that allow an individual to realize and understand both their own emotions and the emotions of others.
This analysis gives us the impetus to make an assumption: the average level of empathy is related to the average emotional awareness. That is, in order for boys to be more emotionally aware, it is necessary to conduct a series of exercises with them to develop empathy, and select appropriate psychodiagnostic techniques to identify the level of empathy. It is likely that this may be the impetus for the development of other components of emotional intelligence. We see prospects for further research in the development of specific psychological and pedagogical guidelines for teachers and parents on the development of emotional intelligence in adolescence. As a result, we can say that the following tendencies prevail among adolescent respondents: girls mostly have average emotional awareness, low ability to control their own emotions, low self-motivation, average level of empathy, low level of recognition of emotions; on the other hand, boys mostly have low emotional awareness, low ability to control their own emotions, low self-motivation, low level of empathy, low level of recognition of the emotions of others.
