ASSESMENT OF NEGATIVE MENTAL STATES AMONG MILITARY PESONNEL

Abstract

The article examines the main methods of assessing and identifying negative mental states in military personnel, in particular anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and emotional burnout. Modern psychodiagnostic approaches, physiological research methods and features of clinical observation are analyzed. Key factors affecting the mental health of military personnel and possible areas of prevention and psychological support are outlined. The mental health of military personnel is a key factor in their military effectiveness and social adaptation. In conditions of armed conflict, military personnel are exposed to high levels of stress, which can lead to the development of negative mental states, such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and emotional burnout syndrome. The study is aimed at analyzing the main methods of assessing and diagnosing these states, including psychodiagnostic questionnaires, clinical interviews, physiological methods and observations. Risk factors influencing the development of mental disorders in the military are outlined, in particular combat experience, social support and the level of stress resistance. Promising approaches to prevention, psychological rehabilitation and support of military personnel after combat operations are identified.

The choice of diagnostic tools is critically important for the accurate assessment of the mental state of military personnel, as an incorrect or unreliable tool can lead to incorrect diagnosis, which in turn can negatively affect the effectiveness of treatment and rehabilitation. Given the specifics of military service and stress factors, it is important to choose tools that allow for the accurate detection of mental disorders, including PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, and other conditions common to military personnel
