Abstract

Chronic stress is one of the key factors affecting the health of veterans, in particular the functioning of their immune system. High intensity of combat operations, psychological trauma and social adaptation after returning from military service can lead to a prolonged increase in the level of cortisol and other stress hormones. It has been proven that prolonged exposure to stress causes an imbalance in the nervous and endocrine systems, which, in turn, disrupts neuroimmune regulation, contributing to the development of chronic inflammation and increasing the risk of autoimmune diseases.

The article discusses psychohygienic approaches to reducing the negative impact of stress on the immune system of veterans. Among the main methods of prevention and correction, cognitive behavioral therapy is considered as an effective tool for changing destructive thinking patterns, meditative practices that contribute to the regulation of the nervous system, normalization of sleep patterns as one of the key factors in restoring immune balance, as well as physical activity and nutritional support, which have a positive effect on the general condition of the body.

Special attention is paid to social support as an important factor in reducing the level of chronic stress. It has been proven that the presence of social ties, support from family, fellow veterans and mental health professionals significantly reduces the level of psychological distress, which has a positive effect on the general physical condition and immune response. The proposed measures may be useful for medical and rehabilitation specialists in developing comprehensive programs for the recovery of veterans aimed at reducing the risk of developing autoimmune disorders and improving the quality of life.
