The article analyzes the influence of chronic stress on the mental health of pregnant women. Pregnancy itself, even under favorable external conditions, may cause serious changes not only in a woman's body, but also in her lifestyle and the way she perceives the world. It makes a woman more vulnerable and susceptible to environmental influences. During pregnancy, women undergo physiological and psychological adaptations to short-term acute stress, which, if unaddressed, may develop into chronic stress. Recognizing the presence of stress, understanding its causes, and acknowledging its impact on mental health are essential steps toward effective management.
This study explores the multifaceted impact of chronic stress on the mental health of pregnant women. Expectant mothers are exposed to heightened levels of stress and anxiety, including threats to their own life and health, separation from family, social isolation, and other stressors that are uncommon in civilian life. These challenges have a direct impact on mental health and may contribute to the development of various psychological disorders, such as fear, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Attention is drawn to the need to address the issue of effective methods of psychological support for pregnant women, to provide highly qualified psychological counseling and support for such women.
