The article explores resilience as a complex and dynamic process of personality adaptation to stressful and crisis situations, and its significance for maintaining mental health, social cohesion, and the capacity for recovery—both at the level of individual citizens and society as a whole. It analyzes major theoretical approaches to defining resilience in foreign and Ukrainian psychology and highlights its interpretation as a personal trait, adaptive process, or outcome.
A specific line of research has been refined, focusing on the methodology for measuring resilience and its components. The study emphasizes the biopsychosocial nature of resilience and its importance at both individual and organizational levels, particularly in wartime Ukraine. Key internal and external factors that hinder or promote resilience development are identified, and practical strategies for fostering resilience through training and psychological support are outlined. The need for interdisciplinary research and integrated programs aimed at mental health support is substantiated.
