DYNAMICS OF VALUE-SEMANTIC SPHERE OF SUBCULTURAL PARTICIPANTS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of changes in the value-semantic sphere of the individual who is involved in a subculture. A theoretical analysis of studies and publications was conducted, the main approaches to the study of the individual’s value-semantic sphere are considered. The empirical data of study the value-semantic sphere of two age groups’ representatives of informal subcultures (teenagers and adults) are presented. Significant differences in the life-purpose orientation of the experimental people were found. Participants in the informal subculture consider their life less meaningful (p≤0,01), directed (p≤0,01), filled (p≤0,01) and structured (p≤0,01) in comparison with ordinary citizens. The ontogenetic dynamics of women belonging to informal subcultures’ indicators of emotional life orientations are significantly faster compared to similar indicators of "non-formal" men. The distinctive features of participants in the subculture value orientations in relation to ordinary citizens are revealed. The system of terminal values of "non-formals" predominantly coincides with the system of values of "ordinary citizens" but their instrumental values mostly differ. Differences in the values’ structure relate to their orientation: the subculture members are mostly individually oriented and ordinary people are more socially oriented. The subculture environment’ influence on the value-semantic sphere of its representatives was confirmed.
