DYNAMICS OF PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL FUTURE FORECASTING BY STUDENTS-PSYCHOLOGISTS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the issues analysis which related to the process of professional formation and identification of students-psychologists. The hypothesis of the study was based on the assumption that predictions of the personal professional future by students of psychology have significant differences depending on the year of study, values and motivation training. The article presents an analysis of long-term research data of testing a definite hypothesis. An author's questionnaire was developed for realization of the set tasks in order to identify students-psychologists priorities of professional activity in the future, to assess their own capabilities, to reveal the main training motives, and admission to psychological specialty, the level of valuation by students of their abilities and a number of interconnected factors related to learning as well as the presentation of their professional future. The students' priorities for their own professional implementation, and the main tendencies of forecasting personal professional future at different stages of education were determined based on the results of empirical research. Furthermore, the connection of revealed trends with the peculiarities of motivation and value orientations of students-psychologists, which are detected by psychodiagnostic tools, is analyzed.

The obtained results confirm the hypothesis. The students-psychologists of different courses have statistically significant diversities for educational motivation and value orientations depending on the tendencies of forecasting personal professional future. The most significant training motives for students of psychologists are the motive to become a highly skilled specialist, the motive for financial encouragement, the motive of intellectual satisfaction, the motive for obtaining a diploma. The obtained results of the research and the revealed tendencies confirm the need to actualize actions aimed at improving the training of future psychologists, especially their personal transformations, which have a significant impact on the quality of the process of professional identification.
